Free PDF Editor

Foxit PDF Reader

Review

Are you tired of Adobe Reader hogging almost 23MB of your disk space, always phoning home for updates, and not providing such swift performance? Make the switch to Foxit Reader, a willowy, 2.55MB download that's fast, free, and more versatile than Adobe's bloatware. For instance, with Foxit you can easily add bookmarks (providing the PDF's security settings allow it), import/export forms, and save the PDF forms you fill out.

Acrobat Reader has grown substantially in size over the years; in fact, the latest downloadable version is now over 16 megabytes in size! As a result, Acrobat takes it takes longer to launch a .PDF file for viewing.

Some of grear benefits of Foxit Reader are:

Breezing-fast: When you run Foxit Reader, it launches instantly without any delay. You are not forced to view an annoying splash window displaying company logo, author names, etc.
Annotation tool: Have you ever wished to annotate (or comment on) a PDF document when you are reading it? Foxit Reader allows you to draw graphics, highlight text, type text and make notes on a PDF document and then print out or save the annotated document.
Text converter: You may convert the whole PDF document into a simple text file.
High security and privacy: Foxit Reader highly respects the security and privacy of users and will never connect to the Internet without users' permission. While other PDF readers often silently connect to the Internet in the background. Foxit PDF Reader does not contain any spyware.

PDF Viewer:

Review

This program is a great FREE alternative to Adobe Acrobat Reader. As its name indicates, PDF Viewer lets you visualize PDF files. But why would you use this program instead of Acrobat Reader if both are FREE? Well, the name doesn’t make justice to this powerful piece of software. This program offers useful features you won’t find in Acrobat Reader besides it’s faster and smaller.

One of the features you will enjoy when using this program is the ability to add comments and annotations to any PDF file, unless it has security restrictions. This is helpful if you want to annotate something you've taught while reading that interesting book or the meaning of the word you looked up in the Dictionary. With this program you’ll be able to annotate any PDF Document not just those created with a tool certified by Adobe.

Also, you will be able to apply custom stamps. A stamp is an image you paste inside your document. This program includes some stamps like Approved, Confidential, Draft, Expired, Not Approved, Sold, For Comment, Experimental and so on. In addition you can use any image from a file, other PDF Document or your Clipboard.

You can write in your PDF document using the Typewriter Tool, the Text Box Tool or the Call Out Tool. The Typewriter tool lets you write directly on the page. The Text Box Tool is useful to create text with transparent or solid color background. And the Call Out is like the Text Box but with a bottom line pointing to somewhere in your text.

With PDF Viewer you can export your PDF document to anyone of the supported image formats including BMP, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, PCX, etc. You can choose export resolution, page background, page range, export mode and so on. This means that you can export your entire document or the pages you select. You can control the size of the resulting images if you want to print them on paper or just view them on screen. There are some other helpful functions: the ability to extract text from your PDF Documents and the abilyti to fill and save Adobe Forms and JavaScript Support.

PDF Viewer includes plug-ins for Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer, so you’ll be able to view PDF Documents right from your web browser. It also integrates with some translation software including ABBYY Lingvo 12, Translate It! and Lingoes.

As this was not enough, there’s a portable version to use it anywhere. You just need to download and copy the program to a memory stick, CD or DVD and run it. You can use PDF Viewer in a cybercafé, at school, at work, in your friend’s computer and so forth.

PDF Viewer works great with Windows Vista and its interface is translated into Portuguese, Catalan, Chinese, Czech, Danish, German, Finnish, French, Frisian, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian.
